Mugged
Somebody jumps at me and pushes me down on the floor. I see another guy, a black tall one, on the other side of the street walking up and down watching out. Nobody else is on the street.
It is around 11 pm. on 48th St., between 9th and 8th Ave. near Times Square, Manhattan. No stores or restaurants are in this block.
The guy must be a wrestler. Short and skinny, very athletic. Trying three times to escape with my whole body and force, I give up. He has me under total control. With one move he can break my neck.
Me:
What do you want?
Stranger:
Money!
Me:
It’s my last money.
How much?
Stranger:
Twenty dollars.
Me:
That’s the deal?
Stranger:
Yeah.
Me:
Okay!
I have $ 75 in my pocket. It was planned for groceries. I have no idea when I earn the next money. I grab in my pocket. I get the first bill. I show it to him. One dollar, I try another one, one
dollar, the third bill is also a one dollar bill, even the fourth one. Than the twenty dollar bill shows up. He wants to grab all the bills.
Me:
Twenty dollars is the deal!
I give him the twenty dollar bill and we get up.
Me:
What do I get for it?
In the meantime the black guy comes closer. The wrestler wants to kiss me.
Me:
I don’t want that.
You cannot do that.
We are in the same situation, this is my last money.
If you continue with that, getting money like that,
it will never change.
Black guy:
I told him that.
Me:
You have to do something different,
or it never will change.
The wrestler starts crying.
Stranger:
I don’t know what to do.
I need to pay back 100 dollars this night.
Black guy:
What can we do?
Me:
That's what you have to find out.
If you want, you will find a solution.
Use your fantasy.
My name is Sylvester Becker, I am a filmmaker.
If you see in the future a movie from me,
go in the movie theater with your friends.
Black guy:
You are a filmmaker? I am an actor.
Can I play in your next film?
That was to much for me. I left them. I walked along 48th St. The musicals were just finished. The theaters pouring out the people in their fancy and expensive clothes. Slowly I realize what
happened, while my whole body starts aking. The adrenalin was gone when I was sitting in the subway, and the pain in my neck and face started. Four days I had problems to move my head.
